Nursing School So Far...

I personally go to school year round and have been going since January of 2017, but my school currently has 8-week sessions for classes, and two 8-week sessions a semester. Needless to say, things go by pretty quickly. I am currently in the first-floor study room thinking back on everything I've taken so far. Some of my classes have been online, while some have been on campus in 4-hour chunks. (This might be something to consider if you are starting to apply to nursing schools - pay attention to the small details, they might bug you later more than you think). The entire experience has been quick, manageable, and somewhat insane. Although its all of those things, it does take a while to get used to the pattern, and if you aren't prepared it can whiplash you. (If you feel like anything is ever getting out of control with school always go to advisors and workshops, they help immensely).
There is one thing that is HUGE, and that is TIME MANAGEMENT. There's something that they shared in my fundamentals I class that changed the way that I look at managing my time. The house method. Take a look at everything you have going on in your life right now and list them out. Now, think about being in a house. You can't do something well, or fully by being in the middle of two rooms, you can only be in one. Like in life, we have to fully immerse ourselves into something for it to be done well. So think of the outline of a house:

There are 5 spaces that you can be in at once, add any more and you can get overloaded with everything that you need to manage in your house. This goes the same for life. Add school to one room, your job to another, personal relationships, and you only have room for 2 other commitments!
Feel free to copy and print the house, fill it out and pin it on a corkboard or elsewhere for a reminder to not overcommit and find a balance.
